Welcome!

Welcome to Called to Teach. As this site grows, we hope it will encourage teachers of faith to bring Christ's love and compassion into everything they do in and out of the classroom. We need to work together to make sure that Christ is not just the most important thing in our lives - He NEEDS TO BE OUR LIVES!

Please take a moment to introduce yourself on the Introduction forum.

Do you ever enter your classroom without a lesson plan?

If the answer is "yes" please be sure to not type that as a reply to this post. I'd hate for anyone to get in trouble if their evaluator read this blog! :)

Use Music to Inspire and Connect with Students

One great way to teach kids about God's love for others and for them is to use music. Kids respond to music. Even lots of secular songs have lyrics and messages that reveal God. Use music to teach them lessons about life and to express your hopes for them. Use it to let them know you love them. Don't just wait for teachable moments to come along. Instead use music to create teachable moments.

Here are 2 ideas for how you can use these songs:

I Am Second

I have added a new resource organization to the list on the main page of Called to Teach. It is called I Am Second. It is a website filled with amazing testimonies of God working in people's lives - famous people and "normal" people alike.

I would highly recommend taking some time to watch the videos. Then think if there are ways that you could share these messages with others. For example, a student doing a report on certain sports or bands or… Continue
